Evelyn M. Shilling, age 76 of Troy, formerly of Sulphur Springs, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. She was born May 23, 1940 in Bucyrus to the late Harley J. and Gladys O. (Rorick) Kalb.

Evelyn is survived by daughter Teresa Shilling and her companion Steve Gross of Troy; two sons and daughter-in-law: Mark and Cheryl Shilling of Sulphur Springs, and Steven Shilling of Virginia; six grandchildren: Terra Volkmer, Cody (Sammie) Shope, Brandon (Vicki) Bowles, Dane Shilling, Willem Shilling, and Henry Shilling; six great-grandchildren: Klaire, Quinn, Draven, Boe, Pe’tra, and Jordan.

Evelyn married James E. Shilling on January 12, 1962 and he preceded her in death on February 25, 2007. She was also preceded in death by sister Marcie Brashear.

She was a graduate of Chatfield High School in Chatfield OH, and moved from Sulphur Springs to Troy in 1987. She enjoyed drag racing, snow mobiling, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and Ohio State football. She retired from UVMC. Evelyn also leaves behind to cherish her memory many special family members, friends, and neighbors, including Shirley Sims, and her very special dog Sophie.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
