Harry E. Avey, age 89 of Troy, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at his residence. He was born January 3, 1928 in Troy to the late John F. and Goldie D. (Fleck) Avey.

Harry is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law: Lee and Kelly Avey of Troy, and James Allen Avey of Troy; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers: Norman Avey of Troy, and Marvin Avey of Troy; and sister JoAnn Littlejohn of Troy.

He married Carolyn J. (Chaney) Avey on August 14, 1948 and she preceded him in death on March 27, 2017. He was also preceded in death by daughter Linda Avey; five brothers: Harold, Floyd, Donald, Charles, and Ralph Avey; and three sisters: Virginia Gearhardt, Faye Saum, and Jean Favorite.

Harry graduated from Troy High School and enjoyed bicycling, walking, and vacationing. He was self-employed with his wife for several years.

A funeral service will be held 10:30AM Friday, June 16, 2017 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Rev. David Ramming officiating. Visitation will be from 3:30PM-6:30PM Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the funeral home, and also from 9:30AM-10:30AM at the funeral home prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association: 31 W. Whipp Rd. Dayton, OH 45459. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
