Robert C. Cardinal, Jr., age 67 of Troy, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in the Hospice Unit of Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born November 20, 1949 in Miami, FL to the late Robert C. Cardinal, Sr. and O. Opal (Brewer) Cardinal.

Robert married Darlene (Cagle) Cardinal on April 14, 1973 and she survives. Other survivors include son Brian Cardinal and companion Tina Pemberton of Troy, two daughters and sons-in-law, Heather and Ahmed Daoud of Troy, and Stacy and Leigh Riley of Christiansburg, nine grandchildren, Thomas Riley, Bryce Cardinal Hamm, Lauren Cardinal, Keith Cardinal, Joshua Kraus, Jacob Kraus, Brianna Cardinal, William Riley, and Adam Daoud, and sister and brother-in-law Sandra and Gary Herrmann of Mills River, NC

Along with his parents, Robert was preceded in death by brother Ronald Cardinal.

Robert was a member of Troy Church of the Brethren and was a 1968 graduate of Troy High School. He studied at UEI Tech School in Louisville, KY. He loved to travel and spend time with his family. Robert and Darlene spent their last few years traveling around the United States in their motor home. He retired from Hobart Brothers/ITW in 1997 after 28 years of service, ending his career as the Quality Assurance Manager. Robert co-owned Quality Innovations with his partner Duane Johnston. He also enjoyed working at Troy Lowe’s, helping the community.

A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Troy Church of the Brethren with Pastor Jon Keller officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy
