Carolyn J. Avey, age 88 of Troy, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at Covington Care Center. She was born April 1, 1928 in Troy to the late Charles and Minnie Blanche (Handsford) Chaney

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 68 years Harry Avey; two sons and daughter-in-law: Lee and Kelly Avey of Troy, and James Allen Avey of Troy; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law William and Phyllis Chaney of Troy; two sisters: Sarah Scherer of Troy and Mary Ellen Durst of Tipp City.

She was preceded in death by daughter Linda Avey; and fourteen brothers and sisters.

Carolyn was self-employed in the lawn care business with her husband for several years.

A funeral service will be held 10:30AM Friday, March 31, 2017 at Fisher Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Visitation will be from 4:00PM-7:00PM Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the funeral home and from 9:30AM-10:30AM prior to the service. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association: 31 W. Whipp Rd. Dayton, OH 45459. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
