Elmer Miller, age 89 of Troy, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 at Hospice of Butler and Warren County, Middletown. He was born June 13, 1929 in Hazard, KY to the late McKinley and Louetta (Baker) Miller.
Elmer is survived by his daughters Darla Minton of West Carrolton, Debbie Decker of Springfield, and Doris Miller of Springfield; seven grandchildren: AJ Mouser, Jordan Christopher, Derek Decker, Robbie Decker, McKinley Decker, Tanya Apple, and Heather Ganger; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother McArthur “Mac” Miller of Hazard, KY; and sister Flora Murray of Zanesville.
He was preceded in death by wife Sarah (Pitts) Miller; grandson Kenneth Apple; brothers Delbert, Beecher, Sherman, Vernon, Clyde, and Jonas Miller; as well as sisters Shirley Fugate, Oda Mae Miller, and Stella Grubb.
Elmer was a decorated US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Local #128 UAW, Troy Elks #833, Troy Eagles #971; a life member of Amvets Post 88, VFW #5436, American Legion Post #43, and DAV. He retired out of Hobart Corp. in 1992 after 35 years of service as a machinist. He was also a member of the Hobart Quarter Century Club.
A funeral service will be held 1:30PM Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor David Thomasson officiating. Visitation will be 4:00PM-7:00PM on Monday April 1, 2019 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Miami Memorial Park, Covington.
