Hiram Kenneth “Ken” Johnson

Hiram Kenneth “Ken” Johnson, age 95 of Casstown, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Troy Care Center. He was born October 25, 1922 in Bedford, KY to the late Richard L. and Della (McKay) Johnson.

Ken is survived by his son Kenneth  C. "Chris" (Dorothy) Johnson of Dayton; daughter Della Mees of Sidney; nine grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; four stepchildren: Loretta Powell of Troy, Janot Fitch, Lois J. Derr, and Francis Matson; as well as sister Helen Lewis of KY.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife Morella “Ella” Reynolds, who passed away October 2, 2012; the mother of his children Mary Wilson Hosmer; as well as five brothers: Younger, George, Martin, Paul, and Chris Johnson; as well as five sisters: Bee Newby, Lillian Lowry, Nellie Johnson, and Francis Clem, and Gladys Weaver.

Ken was a US Army veteran of WWII, where he was appointed Staff Sergeant. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the Bronze Star. He was stationed at Schofield Barracks during the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was a member of the Piqua Freewill Baptist Church. Ken retired from General Motors in Dayton where he worked as an assembler. 

A funeral service will be held 2:00PM Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Denny Cantrell officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00PM-2:00PM at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy with military honors by the Veteran’s Memorial Honor Guard of Troy.
