Juanita Adkins, age 95 of Troy, went home to be with her Lord on Easter morning, Sunday, April 1, 2018. She was born January 14, 1923 in Troy to the late Thomas J. and Nora E. (Holaday) Landes.
Juanita is survived by her two sons: Kevin (Patty) Adkins of Troy and Bart (Norma) Adkins of Fletcher; two daughters: Karen (Wayne) Swearingen of Tipp City and Debi (Corby) Enochs of Troy; nine grandchildren: Chris (Beth Anne) and David (Jenny) Price, Jason (Jen), Jeremy, and Joshua (Nicci) Bevington, Eric Adkins, Heather Boyer, and Michael (Jeanelle) and Matt (Erin) Adkins; 16 great-grandchildren; and her very special fur baby Willie.
She was preceded in death by her husband Homer Adkins, who passed away in 1968; grandson Steven Adkins; five brothers; and one sister.
Juanita was a 1939 graduate of Troy High School and a member of Troy Baptist Temple for over 50 years. Her children knew her as “the best pie baker in the world”, while many in the Troy community knew her as a dedicated seamstress for over 75 years. She enjoyed the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, sewing, ironing, and feeding birds.
A funeral service will be held 10:00AM Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Troy Baptist Temple with Pastors David Thomasson and Rick Arrowwood officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 6:00PM-8:00PM on Wednesday, April 4 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Memorial donations may be given to the Troy Baptist Temple Building Fund or Hospice of Miami County. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy, OH.
