Kenneth L. Dowty, age 81 of Troy, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born June 4, 1936 in Piqua to the late William Dowty and Dorothy I. (Ingle) Pence.

Kenneth married Sandra L. (Layman) Dowty on February 18, 1961 and she survives. Also surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law: Diane and Larry Matthews of Troy, Brenda and Jerry Burt of Pahrump NV, and Susan Willis of Miamisburg; six grandchildren: Michael Willis, Megan, Erik, Keith, and Claire Matthews, and Jerry Ray (Melissa) Burt.

He was preceded in death by brother Ron Dowty.

Kenneth was a US Navy Veteran. He graduated from Covington High School in 1954. He was a member of the D.A.V, AmVets Post 88, Troy, Fleet Reserve, Redmen Lodge #222, Troy, Haymakers #222 ½, Troy, and Troy Sr. Citizen’s Center.

A funeral service will be held Friday, July 14, 2017 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Rev. David Ramming officiating. Visitation will be 4:30PM-7:30PM on Friday at the funeral home with a Redmen’s service and funeral service to follow. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy at a later date with military honors at the graveside by the Veteran’s Memorial Honor Guard of Troy. Memorial contributions may be given to the Dayton VA Medical Center: 4100 W. 3rd St. Dayton OH 45428. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
