Lonnie “Buddy” Gilpin, Jr., age 89 of Troy, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018. He was born February 20, 1929 in Mt. Gay, WV to the late Lonnie Gilpin, Sr. and Faye (Tabor) Gilpin.
Lonnie is survived by son David (Debbie) Gilpin of Greenville; three daughters: Denise (Randall) Miller of Casstown, Rebecca (Joe) Johnson of Bellefontaine, and Darlene (Terry) Yoder of Troy; eight grandchildren: Dawn (Phil) Wagner, Holly (Ron) Patton, Amy (Chris) Creath, Julie Washington, Chelsea Blair, Megan Alexander, Michael Russell, and Savannah Caldwell; 16 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and brother Angus Gilpin of Talahassee, FL.
He was preceded in death by his wife Huldah Hollena (Blevins) Gilpin on August 17, 2000; daughter Sheryl Hufford; two brothers and six sisters.
Lonnie was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of F&AM #100 in New Carlisle and was employed as a meat packer with the former Dinner Bell Foods in Troy for 35 years.
A funeral service will be held 12:00PM Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Rev. Denvil Cantrell officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00AM-12:00PM at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be in Casstown Cemetery with military honors by the Veteran’s Memorial Honor Guard of Troy. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy, OH.
