Michael E. Hemmert, age 80 of Troy, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018. He was born November 22, 1937 in Piqua to the late Marion and Lucille (Shimp) Hemmert.
Michael is survived by his wife Judith “Judy” (Bretland) Hemmert; daughters Elizabeth “Beth” Franz of Troy and Mary (Steve) Farmer of Rochester, NY; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; as well as sister Mary (Doug) Lange of Troy; cousins Bob (Joy) Scheer of Piqua, Barbara (Dan) Sink of Covington, and Sheryl Shimp Lewis and her husband Jim of Troy.
He was preceded in death by sister Margaret Thompson.
Michael was a retired Mechanical Engineer for Hobart Corp., where he worked for 40 years. He was a 1955 graduate of Troy High School and received his Associates Degree from University of Dayton. He was an avid golfer and a long-time bowler. He went on many golfing trips with his buddies Forrest, Jim, and Ed to Myrtle Beach.
A funeral service will be held 6:00PM Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Nate Beaman and Deacon Michael Knight officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00PM-6:00PM at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Miami County: PO Box 502, Troy, OH 45373. Interment will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
