Ada L. Larck, 84, of Troy, passed away 6:55 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. She was a long time resident of Genesis Troy Center. She was born in Tipp City on July 5, 1930 to the late Henry and Charlotte (Metcalf) Hicks. She was married to Robert E. Larck on June 9, 1948, and he preceded her in death on July 6, 2007.
Ada is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Karen Larck, Sr. of Sidney, Jeffrey Larck and his partner Todd Haywood of Troy; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria Ann and Thomas Kittle of Covington, Brenda Sue Hursh of Troy, Marcia and James Lawrence of Troy; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Joann Hicks of Kentucky. She was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Eric Hursh; two brothers, George Hicks, Amos Bert Hicks; and three sisters, Emma Gee, Edna Eldredge, Arleta Warren; and two grandsons, Thomas Lee and Thomas Lionel Kittle.
Ada was of the Protestant faith. She was a graduate of Tipp City High School. She was a popular entertainer with her band, Ada and the Blue Diamonds. She also recorded three records and other songs. Her family always considered her the best mom in the world.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Daryl Peeples officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Covington.
