Athena M. Hawkins, 89, of Troy, passed away 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. She was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on December 11, 1924 to the late Ray and Emma (Johnson) Ingles. She was married to Harley D. Hawkins, and he preceded her in death in 1999.

Athena is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Gary and Pamela Hawkins of Troy, Jeff Hawkins of Troy; one daughter, Kathy Rademachir of Troy; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce A. Ferguson; and two sisters, Alma Smith and Darlene Locklear.

Athena was a member of the Troy Christian Church. She retired from the former M&R Drug, Troy after 35 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, canning, taking care of her home, and she enjoyed her work at M&R Drug.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Mark Messmore officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
