Obituary

Barbara Ann Dunbar Lynch, 90, Troy, OH and formerly of Roanoke, VA passed away at Versailles Rehabilitation and Health Care Center on September 7, 2024.

Barbara was born September 20, 1933 in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Mary Robertson Dunbar Lewis and Ira C. Dunbar.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Roy E. Lynch; siblings Shelby Jean Dunbar, Jesse C. "Buck" Dunbar, James E. Cadd, Helen L. Cadd Thomas, and Suzanne E. Dunbar Needler; and cherished grandmother Susie E. Robertson.

Barbara is survived by her children P. Anne (Dan) Bennett, Linda (Tom) Schilling, Dona (David) Swihart, and Roy Lynch, Jr; grandsons Ted (Holly) Bennett, David Bennett, Rob (Jenny) Swihart, and Mat (Liz) Swihart; great grandchildren Elizabeth, John, Theodore, Beau, and Blake; Tom Lewis; and various nieces and nephews, including special nephew Rick Cantrell, who affectionately addressed her as "Aunt Bee"

Barbara's upbringing and education were received in Roanoke; she held a life-long affection for that area and often returned to visit. After job-transferring from Roanoke, Barbara and her husband raised their family in Troy, Ohio. Barbara took great pride in caring for her family and homes. She was a loving wife and a stay-at-home mother until her children were grown, volunteering at Cookson Elementary and Troy High Schools. She was retired as an executive engineering secretary at Hobart Corporation and was a member of Living Word Fellowship Church, Troy. Barbara especially enjoyed spending time with her grand/great grandchildren. Her interests and hobbies were wide and varied; she was well-read and had a natural talent for interior design; as well, she was an avid and knowledgeable antiques collector and an excellent cook of southern cuisine. Her gracious manner and outlook will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Barbara's family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the professional and genuine care provided to her by the nursing staff at Versailles Rehabilitation and Health Care, particularly Brittany, Chuck, Amanda, Heather, Vickie, Deb, Jennifer, Patty and Nicole, and to Heather at Miami County Hospice.

Those wishing to honor Barbara's memory are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Miami County Animal Shelter and Miami County Hospice.

A funeral service will be held 10:00AM Friday, September 13, 2024 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Gilbert Welbaum and Pastor Jill Patel officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30AM-10:00AM prior to the service. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
