Barbara Jean Ely, age 94 of Troy, passed away 4:35PM Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Troy Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 8, 1929 in Troy to the late William and Imogene (Masterson) Carey.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband W. Edwin Ely on March 28, 2021, son Randy Smith on December 31, 2020, and brother-in-law Bruce Anderson.

Those left to cherish Barbara's memory include her son Tom (Sandra) Hutchinson of Miamisburg; daughters Tanna Poston of Troy and Teresa Andries of Laura; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother William Carey of Dayton; and sisters Doris Davis of Troy, Patty Evans of Troy, JoAnn Anderson of Ft. Myers, FL, and Melody Lewis of Tipp City.

Barbara was a 1947 graduate of Troy High School and a member of Troy Gospel Tabernacle.

A funeral service will be held 12:30PM Monday, May 13, 2024 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Rich Baker officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30AM-12:30PM at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
