Benny L. Furgerson, 76, of Troy, passed away 5:08 a.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born in Tazewell, TN on October 26, 1937 to the late Harlie and Louise (Williams) Furgerson. He was married to Barbara Sue Waters, and she preceded him in death on May 5, 2010. He later married Patricia, and she survives.

Benny is also survived by one daughter, Benita Pirovolikos of Troy; one son, Benny L. Furgerson, Jr. of LaGrange, KY; four grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Furgerson, Michael H. Smith, William Smith, Jr., Regan M. Smith; three great grandchildren, Cameron, Ronel, and Calvin Jr.; and one sister, Onalee England of Tazewell, TN. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Smith; one son, Benjamin Allen Furgerson; one grandson, Calvin Smith; and one brother, Fred Furgerson.

Benny was a member of Troy Gospel Tabernacle Church in Troy. He was a graduate of Clairborn High School in Tazewell, TN. He was a U. S. Army Veteran and a member and past President of Troy Eagles Auxiliary #971. He was a member of the Troy Fish and Game Club in Troy. He was retired from Road Construction with TDM Construction Co. in Urbana.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Erv Hollan officiating. Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery with a Military Service at Graveside by the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard of Troy.
