Bessie Getter, age 89 of Tipp City, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her beloved family. She was born December 22, 1934 in Greenup County, KY to the late Alvin and Ruth (Logan) Osborne.

Bessie was a loving wife, married to Byron "Joe" Getter for 70 years, and he preceded her in death on February 18, 2024. Also preceded in death by brother John Osborne, sister Opal "Pauline" Burton, and infant daughter Bessie Ann Getter.

Those left to cherish Bessie's memory include daughter Linda Getter Hewitt Lyles of Troy; son Ronald Joe (Ame) Getter of Troy; grandchildren Tonia (Rocki) Emerick, Dallas (Jennie) Hewitt, Huston (Emma) Hewitt, Tasha Hewitt, Jessica Young, Kaleb (Nicole) Getter, and Gracelyn Getter; Konor, Kooper, Kinzlee, Beau, Shai, and 14 other great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers Estill Ray Osborne of Troy and Raymond E. Osborne of Troy; and sister Connie Howerton of South Shore, KY.

Bessie had a heart made of pure gold. Her love for others often outweighed her own wants and needs, always worrying about everyone else even until the very end. She was a hard-working tough woman, spending many hours in the kitchen making her famous freezer pickles and sauerkraut along with canning many other things. She also enjoyed baking her cakes and pies because as we all know, she loved her sweet stuff. Bessie loved getting her hair done at the beauty shop and was well loved by anyone who knew her. Rest assured, there will never be another mamaw Bessie.

Funeral service 5:00PM Friday, March 29 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Chris Daum officiating. Visitation 3:00PM-5:00PM prior to the service with food to follow at the Redmen Picnic Grounds, Troy. Interment 9:30AM Saturday March 30 in Miami Memorial Park, Covington.
