Clarence L. "Barney" Barnhart, 88, of Piqua, passed away 3:40 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Piqua Manor. He was born in Covington on October 27, 1925 to the late Hamilton E. and Catherine Mae (Arnett) Barnhart. He was married to Phyllis J. Small, and she preceded him in death on January 30, 2012.

Barney is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Darla and Richard DeBord of Rockledge, FL, Deborah and James D. Foster of Piqua; one grandson; three granddaughters; five great grandsons; two great granddaughters; two sisters and brother-in-law, Rose Ann and Ralph Lyme of Troy, Betty Taylor of Troy; and one brother, Robert "Bud" Barnhart of Troy. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Scott DeBord.

Barney was of the Baptist faith. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He retired in 1988 as bartender from the Troy Eagles #971 after 25 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post #586 in Tipp City, Troy Eagles #971, and Troy VFW Post #5436.

A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Rev. Andy Monnin officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. with an Eagles service at 11:15 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy with a Military Graveside Service performed by Veterans Memorial Honor Guard of Troy.
