Dennis G. Merical, 77, of Dayton and formerly of Troy, passed away 9:45 Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born April 21, 1936 in Dayton to the late Edward and Gladys (Slorp) Merical. He was married to Thelma Jean Keller on May 1, 1954 and she preceded him in death on July 8, 2011 after 57 years of marriage.

Dennis is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Rick Lee and Janet Merical of Mooresburg, TN; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy Lou and Jeff Davis of Centerville, Vicky Lynn and Wally Babcock of Greenville; four grandchildren, Scott (Sara) Merical, Brian (Jenny) Merical, Matt Davis, and Chris Davis; three great-granddaughters, Ashley, Avery, and Taylor; his twin brother, Larry E. Merical of Dayton; and one cousin, Kenny Slorp of Celina.

Dennis graduated from Roosevelt High School in Dayton and attended 3 years of College. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was retired from General Motors as a Test Engineer after 35 years, and had 4 ideas patented. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Ric Barnes officiating. Interment will be in Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery, Dayton. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Contributions may be sent to the Hospice of Dayton or Leukemia Society.
