Donald R. "Dick" Poling, age 87 of Troy, formerly of Piqua passed away at 9:21 P.M. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Genesis Healthcare, Troy. He was born March 31, 1928 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Charles Howard and Marie Caroline (Shue) Poling.

He married Mary M. (Smith) Poling on January 8, 1949 and she survives of Troy.

Also surviving daughter Cyndi Bertholomey of Troy, granddaughter Jordan Aleece and grandson Logan, great-granddaughter MacKenzie Elizabeth.

He was also preceded in death by a sister Norma Orndorff.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during WWII, was  retired from the Piqua Police Department after 27 years of service retiring in 1980 as Sgt., and then worked at Poling Auto Parts for several years. He was a member of Union Baptist Church, member of American Legion Post  #184 of Piqua, and former member of F.O.P.

Donald enjoyed Sprint Car Racing, Nascar, fishing, hunting and loved his grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Dale Adkins officiating, burial to follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington with Military Honors by Elite Squad of Piqua. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 12:00-1:30 P.M. at the funeral home
