Douglas Ralph "Doug" Hartley, age 79 of Troy, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Ohio's Hospice of Dayton. He was born March 8, 1944 in Troy to the late Russell Melvin Hartley and Jessie Jean (Brown) Hartley.
Doug was preceded in death by his brother Ronnie as well as sisters Dee, Lee, Wilma, and Bev.
Those left to cherish Doug's memory include his wife Judy (Yount) Hartley, whom he married November 26, 1969; son Bruce (Rhonda) Vanover of Troy; grandchildren Kyle (Andi) Vanover, Brooke Vanover, and Terra (Matt) Pisano; great-grandchildren Ayden, Carter, Rae, Charli Jo, Liam, Bella, Matthew, Brandon, TJ, Gabby, and Ana; as well as sister Patty Wise of Troy.
Doug was a proud US Army veteran. He was Past Commander for AmVets Post #88, Troy and a 50-year member of Redmen Lodge #222, Troy. He was also a member of Troy Fish and Game as well as a former member of the Veteran's Memorial Honor Guard of Troy. You could always find Doug working on odd jobs around his house and tinkering in his garage- he was quite the handyman! He also enjoyed camping with his family. He worked for 35 years for Hobart Corp in Troy and Chrysler in Dayton for 5 years.
A funeral service will be held 10:30AM Friday, January 26, 2024 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Visitation will be from 9:00AM-10:30AM prior to the service with a Redman Lodge of Sorrow service at 10:15AM. Interment will follow in Miami Memorial Park, Covington where military honors will be conducted by the Veteran's Memorial Honor Guard of Troy. Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Dayton.
