Frances "Fran" Stanfield, 72, of Piqua, passed away 10:42 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. She was born in Norfolk, VA on April 25, 1941 to the late Frank Taggart and Gladys (Hoag) Kelley.
Fran is survived by one daughter, C. J. Good of Euless, TX; three sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Shelli Jackson of Tipp City, Frank and Melody Stanfield of Douglasville, GA, Fred and Teri Stanfield of Newnan, GA; her long time companion, Frank Shannon, Jr. of Piqua; her dog, Twinkle; one sister, Sarah Jones of Owasso, OK; two brothers and sister-in-law, Howard and Micki Covert of Virginia, Robert Covert of Daytona Beach, FL; her best friend of 50 years, Judy Vamos of Xenia; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three sisters.
Fran was a 1958 High School graduate in Norfolk, Virginia and attended 3 years at Sinclair College. She was a member of AMVETS Post #88, VFW Post #5436, Women of Moose, Eagles Aux. #971, all of Troy. She was an Income Tax Preparer for several years. She loved singing karaoke at her clubs.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Rev. Joseph Hill officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery in Xenia.
