Francis L. "Bud" Vore, 85, of Troy, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 26, 2014. He was born on March 28, 1929, in Frederick, Ohio.
He was with the class of 1947 at Staunton School. On November 26, 1949, he married Mabel Irene Barnes and together they shared their lives for 65 years. Bud retired from City Transfer/Jones Transfer of Troy after 39 years of employment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Laurabelle (Willoughby) Vore; sisters Delores Schlemmer and Elsie Harper; and his son Richard D. Vore.
Bud is survived by his wife, Mabel; his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Gary Schwanitz of Troy; grandsons and their wives, Zachary and Amanda Skidmore of Fort Worth, Texas; Eric and Megan Skidmore of Liberty Township, Ohio; great-grandchildren Briannah Skidmore and Jameson Skidmore. Step grandchildren include Christopher Skidmore; Micah Schwanitz of Washington, Missouri; and Ira Schwanitz of St. Clair, Missouri, and their families. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses including Carl and Sharon Vore of Troy; Roberta and John Horn of Tipp City; Catherine Saunders of Fletcher, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Bud was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Troy and the Troy Lodge of the Moose 1044. His interests included his beloved vegetable garden, boating, Nascar racing, and most importantly his family. He was a loving, loyal, and supportive husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and his neighbors who affectionately called him the Mayor of Arlington Avenue.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Douglas Magin officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Fletcher Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to The First Baptist Church, Troy for Youth Scholarship Fund or the Deacons Fund.
