Fred L. Stockslager, 85, of Troy, passed away 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Troy Care. He was born in Miami Co., Ohio on June 10, 1928 to the late Clyde and Margaret (Kessler) Stockslager. He was married to Evelyn N. Furlong on April 12, 1972, and she preceded him in death on July 28, 2006.

Fred is survived by two grandchildren, Robert and Melissa Stockslager of Troy, Tina and Chris Wagers on Troy; one step-son and his wife, Gary and Sandra Taylor of Melbourne, FL; two step-daughters, Audrey Phillis of Casstown, Barbara Cobaugh of Houston, TX; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy Stockslager of Los Angeles, CA, Marvin and Carlene Stockslager of Ludlow Falls, Lee and Sylvia Stockslager of Tipp City; two sisters and brother-in-law, Cecelia Peele of Laura, Betty and Richard Kessler of New Carlisle; one sister-in-law, Opal Stockslager of Tipp City; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son, Terry Stockslager on April 20, 2013; one step-son, R. Rodney Taylor; three brothers, Mike, Russ, and James Stockslager; and one sister, Anna Mae Kadel.

Fred was a member of Troy Eagles #971, AMVETS Post #88, VFW Post #5436, Troy Fisher and Game Club, and a former member of Loyal Order of Moose #1044. He was retired as Plant Manager of the former Miller Bros. Gravel Company.

A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Chaplain Mike Herbert officiating, and an Eagles service to follow at 1:45 p.m. Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be in Casstown Cemetery, Casstown.
