Gary Dean Battle, born March 27, 1957 to Thomas and Betty Jean Battle in Troy, Ohio. Gary passed peacefully at home surrounded by those who love and cherish him. At age 18, Gary joined the Army for a short time. On July 13, 1976, Gary married Phyllis Block of Kileen, Texas.

Gary was employed with Hobart Corporation (PMI) as a machinist for 22 years and at FedEx Ground for several years. Gary retired in 2017. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his six girls.

Gary is survived by his wife of 43 years, Phyllis; daughters: Yolanda and Patria; granddaughters: Sierra, Kennedy, and Kendall; sisters: Jeanne Atkins (Alex), Geraldine Belcher (Charles), Elizabeth Brown (Leo), Marjorie Pirtle (Leroy), Sheena Harris (James), Teresa Byers (Frayser), Nadine Redfern (Williams); brothers: William Clay (Amy), Dwight Clay (Barb), Thomas Clarke (Barb), and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, his only son Thomas Gary Battle, and sister Tayeba Redfern.

A funeral service will be held 12:00PM Friday, November 1, 2019 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Vickie Evans officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00AM-12:00PM at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
