Gary Lee Wackler, Sr., 70, of Fletcher, passed away 6:55 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2013 at his residence. He was born on January 11, 1943 in Troy to the late Raymond and Kathryn (Althouse) Wackler. He was married to Pamela Tackett on April 19, 1969, and she survives.
Gary is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Chancey and Chad Springer of Xenia; four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Karen Wackler, Jr. of Fletcher, Travis and Cristal Wackler of Fletcher, Owen and Angela Wackler of Easley, S.C., Rusty and Kellie Wackler of Easley, S.C.; ten grandchildren, Alexander Springer, Lilli Wackler, Morgan Springer, Layla Wackler, Jakeb Wackler, Julian Wackler, Preston Wackler, Dustin Patty, Kelley (Carrie) Berbeck, and Latasha Patty; five great-grandchildren; Bianca Patty, Allea Patty, Delilah Hoskins, Caleb Berbeck, and Brennon Berbeck; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patty and Jerry Hahn of Troy, Charlotte and Willard Williams of Indian Lake.
Gary was an Army Veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of the Troy Fish and Game Club. He worked as a dry wall finisher with the Painter's Union of Dayton.
A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Peter Faville officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:30 to 2:30 one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Dayton National Cemetery.
