Ida Grace Thompson-Ward, age 91 of Troy, passed away Wednesday December 30, 2015 at Spring Meade Health Center in Tipp City. She was born January 26, 1924 in Peoria, Ohio to the late Harry and Pauline (Haynes) Appelfeller.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Tom Redick of Troy, and Joyce and Rick Baggett of Ardmore, Oklahoma; son and daughter-in-law Mike and Debbie Lauer of Bossier City, Louisiana; stepdaughter Joanne Thompson of Orlando, Florida, as well as six grandchildren: Matt and Ben Redick, Andrew Baggett, Jennifer Baggett Campbell, and Christopher and Jonathan Lauer. Eight great-grandchildren also survive: Emma, Addy, Fischer, Emily, Makayla, Sophia, AJ, and Nick. Her sister Virginia Rutter of Lima also survives. Ida is preceded in death by two husbands, Orville Lauer and John H. Thompson, as well as daughter Marcia Ann Stone.

Upon graduating from Wapakoneta High School in 1942, she worked and retired as a secretary. She was also a member of Troy Baptist Temple.
