J. B. Atkins, 83, of Troy, passed away 5:26 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born in Tollette, Arkansas on September 24, 1930 to the late Ingram and Rosie (Brown) Atkins. He was married to Josephine Clemons, and she survives.

J. B. is also survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Jennifer Atkins of Troy, Bret and Julie Atkins of Piqua, Michael Clemons of Troy; three daughters and son-in-law, Dana Atkins of Troy, Rose Atkins of Troy, Bristol and Randolph Maxon of Piqua; thirteen grandchildren; one great grandson; and one sister, Betty Boyce of Lakeview Terrance, California. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Londale G. Atkins; and four brothers, Jasper Atkins, George W. Atkins, Andrew Atkins, and Alexander Atkins.

J. B. worked for Spring Hill Nursery in Tipp City for 24 years. He also worked and retired from Hobart Bros. in Troy.

A funeral service will be held 1:30 Monday, September 15, 2014 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
