Jack L. Martin, 76, of Troy, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 in an industrial accident in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Vandalia on October 11, 1937 to the late Ernest L. and Pauline (Korns) Martin. He was married to Babs Bousner on September 26, 1998, and she survives.
Jack is also survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Sherry Martin of Chillicothe, Dirk and Karen Martin of Haiti, Dane and Karen Martin of Covington, Damon Martin of Troy; two daughters, Dianna Noll of Webster, Dina Martin of Minster; two step daughters and stepson-in-law, Dusti and Mike Mathes of Troy, Kelly Curtis of Troy; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Ernie and Barbara Martin of Greenville; and one sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Tom Karns of Union Township. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Clyde Martin.
Jack was a 1956 graduate of Newton High School. He was employed with Ballinger Lumber, Greenville for 11 years. He was also a self-employed contractor and owner of J. L. Martin Construction, Troy and was employed with Snyder Brick & Block, Dayton in the Maintenance Department.
He was the past Pleasant Hill Police Chief, was on the Pleasant Hill Fire Department, Miami Co. Sheriff's Auxiliary, a member of the Goldwing Association Chapter K, and the Pleasant Hill Fish & Game Club. He was involved in Sprint Car Racing in the 70's – 80's with Trost Racing of Pleasant Hill.
A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Ric Barnes officiating. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
