James Lee “Jim” Burkholder, age 79 of Piqua, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at his residence. He was born May 8, 1947 in Cumberland, MD to the late Paul and Ruth (Glotfelty) Burkholder.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife Betty Lois (Rismiller) Burkholder on December 4, 2016. They were married on October 18, 1969. He was also predeceased by brother Darwin Burkholder.

Those left to cherish Jim’s memory include his son Eric Burkholder (Terri) of Piqua; daughter Lois Holland (Michael) of Piqua; and grandchildren Nathan Burkholder and Lee and Ashlee McPherson.

Jim was a US Air Force veteran and retired with the US Postal Service in 2002 after many dedicated years of service.

A memorial service will be held 11:00AM Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Mike Calhoun officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00AM-11:00AM prior to the service. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Veteran’s Memorial Honor Guard of Troy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
