Joan Buman, 72, of 2745 W. Main St. Apt. # C, Troy, Ohio and formerly of Versailles, passed away 9:15 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. She was born in Piqua on June 18, 1941 to the late William and Helen (Bailey) Waters. She was married to William Buman and he preceded her in death in 2002.
Joan is survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy Wheeler of Lancaster, Carol and Wayne Pipenger of Troy, Connie and Richard Dircksen of Versailles; a special nephew, Matthew Lacey of Penn Laird, VA; numerous nieces and nephews; and her loving cat, "Baby". She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Tom, Jerry, Robert, and Larry Waters; and two sisters, Margaret Waters and Barbara Furgerson.
Joan was a 1959 graduate of Troy High School. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy and St. Dennis Catholic Church in Versailles and she was a member of the St. Dennis Choir for many years. She worked for Whiteford Foods as a lab tech in Versailles for many years. She was an avid scrabble player and marble player, and she liked to crochet, watch TV, and loved reading.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2013 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Rev. Fr. James Duell officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles.
