JoAnn Mae Staten- Howard, age 79 of Troy, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2026 at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County, Troy. She was born April 23, 1947 in Tabernash, CO to the late John and Barbara (Gray) Pacheco.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her sons Roy “Jake” Staten, III and Geno Staten; granddaughter Jessica Lynn Staten; and four siblings.

JoAnn’s memory will be cherished by her husband John Howard, whom she married September 2, 2017; her children Jody Staten of Troy and Denver “Denny” Staten of Troy; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; as well as five siblings.

JoAnn attended Piqua Pentecostal Church and was a graduate of Circleville High School. A natural caregiver, JoAnn dedicated 28 years working as an RN for Upper Valley Medical Center. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family and cherished her title as “grandma”. She and her husband John spent time traveling the east coast, frequenting the beaches and cruising on John’s Harley. She will be missed for the compassion and care she showed others and her devotion to her family and faith.

A memorial service will be held 6:00PM Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Visitation will be from 5:00PM-6:00PM prior to the service. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
