John H. "Johnny" Evans, 70, of Troy, passed away 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born in Piqua on May 31, 1944 to the late Charles Franklin and Hazel Dorothy (Walker) Evans. He was married to Denise Lausha Wright, and she survives.

Johnny is also survived by three sons and daughter-in-law, Jeremy Evans of Troy, Jonathan Evans of Troy, Lewis and Deborah Jones of Dayton; one step son, Corey Talmadge, Sr. of Piqua; ten grandchildren; three brothers and sister-in-law, Edward and Katherine Evans of Springfield, Frankie Evans of California, James Howard Evans of Dayton; and one sister, Beverly Evans of Las Vegas, NV. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Esther Evans.

Johnny was a member of Zion Baptist Church, Troy. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of AMVETS Post# 88, VFW Post# 5436, and American Legion Post# 43. He was retired a maintenance worker from the Hobart Miami Co. Administration Building. He was a sports enthusiast and he volunteered putting up flags on Veterans Day around Troy.

A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Greg Simmons officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy with a military graveside service by the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard of Troy.
