John Robert Straw, age 56 of Piqua, passed away August 12, 2026 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born February 22, 1970 in Troy.

John’s memory will be cherished by his parents Danny and Brenda Cain of Troy, as well as his sister Marsha Ann Cain.

John loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed camping. John had a passion for tinkering with things and cherished his work with Can-Do Recycling. He loved to tinker in his backyard, jamming to his music while tearing stuff apart! He could be found walking the streets of his Candlewood neighborhood, pulling his wagon collecting scrap metal and recycling. His neighbors always made sure he had plenty of materials! John had a soft and caring side, and he would collect flat rocks, paint them, and pass them out to his neighbors as a gift. He will be missed by his Candlewood community, as well as his family and many good friends.

A memorial service will be held 4:00PM Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Visitation 3:00PM-4:00PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
