Obituary

SIDNEY - Jonathon "Jon" E. Snider, age 56 of Sidney, passed away April 18, 2024.

Jon was proceeded in death by his father, Fred Snider, of Sidney, OH and his mother, Susan (Ewing) Maggart, of Troy, OH.

As many know the road of life is not always traveled smoothly.  It is with a heavy heart to know that Jon was struggling and felt he couldn't reach out.  The family was devastated to learn of his passing and regrets any pain caused in the delay of notifying his friends.

We are blessed to hear stories from his friends / family that he was in contact with in recent months, before his passing.  We are happy to hear that he did speak to a pastor about some of the things that were on his mind. The family would like to thank those that he was in touch with recently, that lent him an ear, where he shared his dreams of getting back into fishing/ canoeing  and possibly living by a lake/ river.

We know that Jon absolutely loved animals, fishing, canoeing, hiking, and biking, mushroom hunting- anything related to nature/ outdoors.

Jon worked from 1988-2014 at SEW Eurodrive of Troy, OH, as well as Hexa America, IVEK Corp,, and Peak Foods, but his true passion was in his employment at Troy Country Club Golf Course when he mowed and did outdoor maintenance duties, in 2014. He would later start his own Handyman Service and Mowing self-owned business. He was very proud of his business and would tell everyone, "If you need help with anything, especially your lawn, I'm your man!"

Jon also had a huge spot in his heart for music and artists such as Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Cody Jinks, blues, old rock, anything that jammed as well as some of the newer artists caught somewhere between country, blues, and rap.  His latest love was artist. Jelly Roll, songs such as 'Save Me". Jon felt music in a way that some did not understand. He would come to listen to music at every waking moment to quiet his thoughts and worries.

Jon's half sister Lori (Beard) Allen will be making donations to animal sanctuaries/ shelters, in Jon's name, in Ohio  and his half sister Kelly (Maggart) Morales and David Morales will do so in Florida.  His family welcomes any friends/ family to do the same. Jon would be happy to know that animals have been helped in his name.

"Save Me" by Jelly Roll:

Somebody save me, me from myself I've spent so long living in Hell They say my lifestyle is bad for my health It's the only thing that seems to help

All of this drinkin' and smokin' is hopeless But feel like it's all that I need Somethin' inside of me's broken I hold on to anything that sets me free

I'm a lost cause Baby, don't waste your time on me I'm so damaged beyond repair Life has shattered my hopes and my dreams

I'm a lost cause Baby, don't waste your time on me I'm so damaged beyond repair Life has shattered my hopes and my dreams

What if the night sky was missin' the moon? There were no shootin' stars to use wishin' on you And all of my sorrows, I'd just wash them down It's the only peace, I've ever found

Jon had said on more than one occasion, "I don't think this world was ready for me yet." We are saddened that Jon's journey on earth has ended. We pray that Jon is at peace, with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in heaven.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
