Laura Jo "Momma Jo" Higgins, 63, of Troy, passed at her residence in Troy on Saturday, October 11, 2014. She was born May 28, 1951 in Cartersville, GA to the late Mary E. and James Brown.

Laura is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Jaim'E (Jody) Brown of St. Marys, Willard (Abba) Higgins Jr., Joel (Ashley) Higgins of Troy, Eric (Lynndale) Higgins of Piqua; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest D. (Donna) and James C. (Rebecca) Brown of Lima; sister-in-law, Ovena Higgins; brother-in-laws, Edward and James Higgins of Kentucky; special family, Michelle Brown of Columbus and Corey Talmadge of Troy; and special friends, Becky Robins and Kim Larkin of Troy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Higgins Sr. of Troy, Mother and Father James and Mary Brown, and brother, Dane M. Brown.

Laura attended and graduated two colleges, University of Northern Ohio in Lima for Fashion and Design and Ohio Art Institute of Springfield, OH. Receiving a BA in both colleges, she drove truck part time and gave free time when she could to help friends and family. She loved the fact that she had so many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at New Life Baptist Church, 1001 N. Co. Rd. 25A, Troy, Ohio at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014. Arrangements are entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Contributions may be given to the family at 1124 W. Main St., Troy, Ohio 45373.
