Linda Katherine Wood, age 79 of Troy, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026. Born on July 14, 1946, in LaFollette, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Blaine Mills and Helen (Robbins) Mills.

Linda’s journey was shared with the love of her life for over sixty years, Carlos Wood, Sr. Together, they raised three children: their son, Carlos (Sally) Wood, Jr., and their daughter, Nita Ferguson, both of whom survive. She was preceded in death by their daughter, Tami Wood-Lively, who passed away in 2011. She also leaves seven cherished grandchildren, Julia, Kristen, Trenton, Hayden, Sam, Holland, and Takoda, as well as nine beloved great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Anita Grede and Margie (James) Mathis.

Linda was, by all accounts, a pistol—straightforward and fiercely honest—someone with whom you always knew exactly where you stood. But beneath that forthright exterior beat a deeply loving and generous heart. She was a natural caretaker; an area foster mom whose home was a sanctuary for all neighborhood children. Her warmth extended into her cooking, feeding bodies and souls alike.

A lover of antiquing, Linda found joy in the stories held by old treasures. Her passion for people was unmistakable, ever ready to lend a hand or an ear. Linda’s essence will undoubtedly linger in the hearts of all who knew her, a caretaker and a vibrant soul who lived fully and loved fiercely.

A celebration of life will be held 11:00AM Friday, April 10, 2026 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Tim Goad of G5 Church officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00AM-11:00AM prior to the service. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
