Lois Virginia K. Duncan, 105, of Troy, passed away 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. She was born April 11, 1909, to the late George and Sarah Kight near New Carlisle, Clark County, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Byron Duncan, in 1995.
Virginia is survived by several nieces and nephews, Nancy Brassington of West Carrollton, Lois Ferrier of Troy, Mildred Kight of Pleasant Hill, Rita Brumbaugh of Coving, Kathleen Shellhouse of Lebanon, and Fred Morton of Botswana, Africa. Also several great nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two nephews, Charles Grady and Robert Kight; and one niece, Nan Pertala.
Virginia graduated from Newton High School in 1928. Soon after graduation, she went to work in the Troy Public Library where she worked for 18 years. In 1962, she became an Avon representative from which she retired in 2009. She was an active member of the First United Church of Christ, Troy since 1925. Virginia donated her body to Wright State University.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Lauren Allen and Rev. Allen Marheine officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
