Obituary

Marjorie I. Neal, 84, of Troy, passed away 4:23 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014 at SpringMeade Health Center, Troy. She was born in Covington on July 26, 1930 to the late Floyd and Mary (Hall) Kauffman. She was married to Valentine Frank Hemm, who passed away in 1967. She later married Richard E. Neal, and he preceded her in death in 2007.

Marjorie is survived by one son and two daughters, Christine Amsdell of Troy, Valentine Leon Hemm of Conifer, Colorado, and Vickie Almeida of Troy; four grandchildren, Holly J. (Jamie) Ferris, Derek (Julie) Almeida, Keelynn Hemm, and Kaitlynn Hemm; four great grandchildren, Jevin Ferris, Jaron Ferris, Jadyn Almeida, and Hunter Almeida; Richard's grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Berlin Kauffman of Ludlow Falls; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Pat Toops of Marshall, NC, Pat and George Jewell of Covington; and niece and nephew; Diane Kauffman of Ludlow Falls, and Joel Kauffman of New York. She was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Lorene Kauffman; and two sons-in-law, David Almeida and Jim Amsdell.

Marjorie was a graduate of Covington High School and Miami Jacobs Business College. She was a member and former Secretary of Trinity Episcopal Church, Troy. She belonged to the Alpha Garden Club of Covington and was an award winning floral designer for many years at the Miami County Fair. Marjorie was an avid gardener and loved flying with her husbands.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 60 S. Dorset Rd., Troy, with The Rev. Joan Smoke officiating. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the Church. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Arrangements are entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
