Obituary

Michael Daniel Smith, age 62 of Troy, passed away Monday, October 5, 2026 at his residence. He was born May 29, 1964 in Dayton to the late James and Gloria (Maxie) Smith.

Along with his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brothers Jim Smith and John Smith, and sister Debbie Barnhart as well as father-in-law Don Godown.

Those left to cherish Michael’s memory include his wife Amanda (Godown) Smith; daughters Dandelion (Hope) Smith of Springfield, Tiffany (Jeff) Lewis of Union, and Leanna (Josh) Smith of Dayton; sons Jacob (Lexi) Smith of Troy and Michael (Dana) Smith, Jr. of Huber Heights; grandchildren Hailey, Dominik, James, Riley, Kyra, Eliza, Violet, and August; sister Sue Hoke of Trotwood and brother Dave Smith of Brookville; as well as many extended family, including mother-in-law Jan Godown of Clayton.

Michael was a 1982 graduate of Trotwood Madison High School. He previously worked at Troy Care and Rehab in the dietary kitchen and for Creative Extruded Products in Tipp City for several years. Michael had a wanderlust spirit and was always up for adventure and exploring new places. In his downtime, he loved winding down on his tablet, reading, and watching TV- everything from wrestling to cheering on his Ohio State Buckeyes and Dallas Cowboys. Family was the most important aspect of Michael’s life; he cherished the time he could spend with them.

A visitation will be held from 5:00PM-7:00PM on Friday, October 9, 2026 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
