Oma Alice Valentine, age 82 of Somerville, OH, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Majestic Care Nursing Home in Middletown, OH. She was born on April 22, 1938 in Paintsville, KY to the late George and Esta (Cantrell) Pennington.

In addition to her parents, Oma is preceded in death by her husband, James Deans; two sons, Michael Cantrell and Roger Alan Cantrell; and sister, Georgie Sloan.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Nicholas) Lazzaro of Huber Heights, OH; sons, Terry (Heidi) Valentine of Somerville, OH and Johnnie (Michelle) Valentine of Troy; sister, Eula Gunnerman of Piqua, OH; brothers, Jess Pennington of Flatgap, KY and Gary Pennington of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Jeremy, Cory, Adam, Jesse, Amanda, Stacy, Chris and Tia; and many great grandchildren.

Oma retired from Copeland Corporation in Sidney, OH, where she worked for 33 years. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, flowers, gardening and listening to gospel music.

A funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Nicolas Lazzaro officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 AM- 12 PM. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Tipp City, OH.
