Patty Lou Carey Gwinn Evans, 91 years young, of Troy, Ohio, passed peacefully in September 2026 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Patty was born on October 29, 1934, in Troy, Ohio, to the late William and Imogene (Masterson) Carey. She spent her life devoted to family, friends, and her church, touching countless lives with her kindness, generosity, and loving spirit.

On March 6, 1950, she married Larry Gordon Gwinn in Troy, Ohio. Together they shared many years of marriage until his passing. In November 2005, Patty married Fred Evans of Troy, Ohio, who also preceded her in death.

Patty is survived by her daughters, Ginger (Randy) Karnehm of Piqua, Ohio, and Debra (Bob) North of Troy, Ohio. She was especially blessed to witness and enjoy a remarkable five-generation family, including numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who brought her immense pride and joy throughout her life. As the matriarch of her family, Patty was a source of love, strength, wisdom, and guidance to all who knew her.

She is also survived by her siblings, JoAnn (Bruce) Anderson, Melody Lewis, and William (Claudia) Carey. Patty was preceded in death by her son, Larry Gordon Gwinn II; her daughter, Linda (Thomas) Weng; and her sisters, Barbara (Ed) Ely and Doris (Ron) Davis.

She was known for her warm hospitality and the many family favorites she lovingly prepared through the years. Her famous peanut butter fudge, orange fluff, homemade noodles, and countless other cherished recipes became traditions that brought family and friends together around her table. Whether celebrating holidays, special occasions, or simple family gatherings, Patty expressed her love through the meals and treats she shared.

Patty was a longtime member of Troy Gospel Tabernacle, where she faithfully served in many capacities throughout the years. Her dedication to her church family was evident in her willingness to serve wherever needed. She served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, music director, organist, pianist, and church board member. Patty's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She found great joy in reading her Bible, sharing God's love with others, and encouraging those around her through her Christian testimony.

Patty was a long-time employee and part owner of Estes Roofing and Siding then later became sole-owner of The Roof Leader. Through her hard work and dedication, she earned the respect from the community she served.

Funeral services will be held 1:30PM Friday, September 18, 2026 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Baker officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30AM-1:30PM prior to the service. Interment will follow in Casstown Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
