Ralph E. Avey Sr., age 82 of Troy, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Troy Care Center. He was born November 4, 1933 in Troy, Ohio to the late John and Goldie (Fleck) Avey.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years Rosabelle (Cruea) Avey, son and daughter-in-law Ralph E. and Terry Avey Jr. of Tipp City, two daughters and son-in-law Sheila and Dan Gallagher of Covington and Tina (Honeyman) Avey of Seneca, South Carolina, as well as seven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers and sister-in-law Harry and Jean Avey of Troy, Norman Avey of Troy and Marvin Avey of Troy, as well as sister Joan Littlejohn of Piqua.

Preceding Ralph in death are four brothers: Harold, Floyd, Donald and Charles Avey, as well as three sisters: Virginia Gearhardt, Faye Saum and Jean Favorite.

Ralph was a US Army Veteran, serving his country during the Korean War. He worked and retired from the City of Troy Street Department in 1994, after eighteen years of service. He was a former member of the Amvets Post 88, as well as a former member of the Troy Fish and Game Club. Ralph was a devoted member of the Church of the Nazarene in Troy. He was an avid hunter, camper and fisherman, and loved Cushman Scooters.

A funeral service will be held 1PM Friday February 12, 2016 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Visitation 5PM-7PM Thursday February 11 at the funeral home. Interment Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
