IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Randall James
Miller
July 16, 1944 – December 5, 2023
Randall J. Miller, born on July 16, 1944, passed away on December 5, 2023, at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, OH. Randy was born in Wichita, KS, to Floyd F. and Mary L. (Benton) Miller while on a family vacation visiting relatives. He then returned to his family home in northern, IN where he lived until enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He was based in California and had a tour in Vietnam.
Randy's career included a time in California before returning to northern
Indiana. He then accepted a position as a civilian at WPAFB as a Manufacturing Manager and Program Specialist. This allowed him to travel the world where he was charged with ascertaining the various aircraft programs were produced "as designed, on budget, and on time."
Randy will be missed by his loving wife of 31 years, Denise Gilpin Miller; sons Darrell L. (Sue) currently of WV; Paul B. (Sheila) of Fairfield, CA, and Ronald J. of Troy, OH; daughters Holly D. Blair Patton (Ron) of Casstown and Chelsea E. Blair (Freddy) of Troy. He LOVED spending time with his at last count 18 grandchildren and almost 9 great-grandchildren. Special shout out to the 10-year-old granddaughter, Myla, whose job was to run his and Denise's household for the last 9 years. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, sister Pam and brother Doug.
His all-time favorite hobby was teaching dance, specializing in Country Western Two-Step, Waltz, Swing, Cha-Cha, and Line Dancing at many locations but primarily at the Dayton Two Steppers. This is where he met Denise 33 years ago and led to his nickname Cowboy. Due to his prior experience as a toolmaker, it led him to his other main hobby of woodworking. He built furniture for Denise in the home and treasured gifts for the grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
