Obituary

Rebecca Jane Swart, age 75 of Casstown, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2026 at her residence. She was born August 9, 1951 in Virginia to the late Balford and Helen (Newman) Vance.

Along with her parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by her brothers Steve Vance and Reggie Vance.

Those left to cherish Rebecca’s memory include her husband Roy Swart, whom she married August 30, 1969; son Ryan Swart (Kim) of Marysville; daughter Kristina Nash (Jeremy) of St. Paris; grandchildren Abigail “Abby” Johnson, Katelyn Lowy, Emma Swart, Grace Nash, and Hailey Nash, and great-granddaughter Eleanor Johnson; as well as brother Jeff Vance of Franklin and sister Joyce Foote (Bill) of Germantown.

Rebecca was a 1969 graduate of Trotwood Madison High School and received her nursing degree from Edison State. She retired as an RN after several years of dedicated service working primarily for the former Piqua Memorial Hospital.

Rebecca was a woman who loved her family and brought care and thoughtfulness into the lives of those around her. She was a perfectionist in the best sense, taking pride in what she did and giving her attention fully to the people and things she cherished. She loved flowers and enjoyed collecting beautiful things, especially glassware. She also loved to crochet and to draw. Her love of giving gifts reflected her generous heart, and she was also a gifted singer. Her memory will remain with all who knew and loved her.

A funeral service will be held 2:00PM Thursday, October 15, 2026 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home with Pastor Chriss Heiss officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00PM-2:00PM prior to the service. Interment will follow in Casstown Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
