Richard Ronald “Itchy” Smith, age 77 of Troy, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born December 25, 1948 in Troy to the late Carl Smith and Frances (Adams) Smith.

Those left to cherish Richard’s memory include his wife Ruth (Coleman) Smith, whom he married September 20, 1969; his daughters Angie (Michael) Elleman of Troy and Paula (Charles) Wykle of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren Cooper and Connor Elleman and Justin and Paige Whiteford; as well as his siblings Patrick (Joyce) Smith of Atlanta, GA, Connie (Kenny) Denlinger of Troy, and Nancy Shetterly of California.

Richard was a 1967 graduate of Troy High School. He retired with SEW Eurodrive in Troy where he worked several years in customer service. He was previously employed with Hobart Corp for over 30 years as a supervisor. He was a member of Troy Moose Lodge 2695 and Troy Fish & Game. In his spare time, Richard was an expert rosarian and enjoyed tending to his rose garden. He also enjoyed collecting various memorabilia and in his younger years riding his motorcycle. He was also a loyal Cleveland Browns fan. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
