Richard Stone, age 86 of Troy, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 in the Hospice Unit of Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born November 24, 1930 in Elizabeth Township to the late Forrest and Minnie (Hoagland) Stone.

Richard married Shirley A. (Ashman) Stone on July 31, 1954 and she survives in Troy. Other survivors include son Matt Stone of Troy; brother Eddie Stone of Kissimmee, FL; sister Betty Lisle of Ocala, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son Mark Richard Stone.

Richard was raised by his Uncle Nelson and Aunt Lucille Stone since the age of eleven. He was a US Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Troy. He was also a 50-year member of Franklin Lodge #14 F&AM, Troy; a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton; as well as member of the Antioch Shrine, Dayton, Troy Elks Lodge #833, and Moose Lodge of Troy.  Richard was a life member of VFW Post 5436, Troy, AmVets Post 88, Troy, and Troy Fish and Game Club. Richard enjoyed fishing, and was a great fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, and the Green Bay Packers. He retired from Schneider Transport of Green Bay, WI after 21 years of service.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held at a later date in Casstown Cemetery with Pastor Lauren Allen officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Church of Christ, Troy or Hospice of Miami County. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
