Robert E. Jenkins, age 86, of Troy, passed away 11:36 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. He was born December 10, 1926 to the late Orville M. and Kathryn M. (Dorsey) Jenkins. He was married to Jacqueline Ann Thompson on August 29, 1946, and she survives and resides in Troy.
Robert is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Vivian Jenkins of Troy, Robert and Claudia Jenkins, II of Butler Twp., Vandalia; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Kevin Adkins of Troy; two grandchildren, Michael (Jeanell) Adkins of Troy, and Matthew (Erin) Adkins of Batavia; and three great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Liam, and Garrett. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Marie; and his brother, Orville J. Jenkins.
Robert was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He returned to Troy High School and received his diploma in 1976. He was retired from Hobart Corporation in Troy after 51 years of service and was a member of the Hobart Quarter Century Club. He was a lifetime member of Troy Elks Lodge #833, a former board member of the Garden Manor Apartments, served on the Facility Review Board of Miami County, and was a volunteer at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 409 E. Main St., Troy with Rev. Fr. James Duell as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. An Elks Lodge of Sorrow Service will be held 4:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy with a Military Service by the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard of Troy.
