Obituary

Robert Leonard "Black Rob" Morton, Jr.  age 42 of Troy, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025. He was born July 13, 1982 in Princeton, WV to the late Robert Morton, Sr. and Cynthia Williams Thompson.

Robert was preceded in death by stepfather Donald Thompson, Jr., grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Thompson, brother Rapheal Williams, mother-in-law Robbin Bryant, and sister-in-law Rebecca "Becca" Green.

Those left to cherish Robert's memory include his children: Paishance Morton of Troy, Da'Mari Morton of Troy, London Bryant of Troy, and Robert Leonard Morton, III of Troy; significant other Alisha Bryant of Troy; siblings Lena Street-Hickman (David) of KY, Shawn "Bishop" Moore of Orlando, FL, Antonio Williams (Dion) of WV, Julian Morton (Diminique) of WV, Crystal Browder (Veniesa) of WV, Cortezissa "CJ" Johnson (Stan) of Troy, and Nyoka Goodson of Troy; nieces and nephews Joseph Street, II, Brynden Street, Kalessa "Yaya" Hill (his favorite), Devon Larger, Tatyana Green, Ariana Green, Zaidyn Moore, Aizlyn Swartz, Cailyn Moore, and Sania Moore; aunts Jacqueline Galloway of WV and Myra Rucker (Oliver) of WV; cousins Kris, Enes, and Kierra Rodriguez; godmother Antionette Saunders of Troy, mentor Vickie "NeNe" Smith of Troy, good friend Kenneth "Scooby" Crabtree, lifelong best friends Deidra Branyon of SC and Eric Plumley of WV, longtime friend and former employer Glynn Feltner and his family, his church family, especially Pastor John Hughes and his wife Marie, brother-in-law Nate Green of Troy and sister-in-law Karri McMillin of Troy.

Robert was a 2000 graduate of Princeton High School in Princeton, WV and went to college at Concord College in Hinton, WV. He was currently employed with Trojan Tree Care and had previously worked for A1 Affordable Tree Care. Robert was dedicated to his job and was passionate about what he did. He took solace in fishing and was an excellent cook. He was an avid New York Giants fan and was loyal to all West Virginia sports teams. Robert loved his family and extended family and friends who will miss him deeply.

A celebration of life will be held 1:00PM Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor John Hughes officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00PM-1:00PPM prior to the service. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
