Bobbie spent her final days at Ohio's Hospice of Miami County and passed peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025. She was born on March 20, 1935 in Troy, Ohio and was a resident of Troy nearly her entire life. She is survived by her daughter, Debi (Jeff) Brumbaugh, and son, Mark (Sherry) Douglas. She had seven grandchildren, Sarah (Kevin) Baker, Samantha (Doug Poling) Smallenbarger, Sally (Charlie) Shields, Derek Brumbaugh, Ryan (Natalie) Douglas, Brandon (Nicole) Douglas, and Lauren (Timothy) Pauley.
She also had 16 great-grandchildren, Cooper, Nicholas and Tyler Smith; Karson Potts; Hailey and Erin Baker; Harper Howell; Taylor Shields; Olivia and Celia Douglas; Gregory Oliver; Luke, Lane and Audrey Douglas; and Isla and Hannah Pauley.
Bobbie was predeceased by her husband Kenneth, parents Elizabeth and Leonard Sturgeon, and brothers Richard and Douglas Harnish.
A devoted spouse, parent, and grandparent, Bobbie was dearly loved by her family. She was known for being available to help and advise. She had a good sense of humor and a fun-loving nature. Although she was independent and enjoyed her alone time, she found friends easily.
Bobbie especially loved her grandchildren. When they were young, she enjoyed playing marbles, jacks, games, and going camping and fishing with them. Family gatherings in her backyard often included kickball. She spent a lot of time on her patio and took pleasure in her backyard pond with the koi and goldfish. The sound of the waterfall brought her peace and joy. She also appreciated the kindness of her neighbors.
Bobbie was a romantic at heart, and read all of Nicholas Sparks' books. She often watched the History Channel and family members received cherished beautifully crocheted afghan blankets.
Through the years, Bobbie had several beloved dogs, with Mugs, Von, Abby, and Mork being her best buddies.
Having a strong work ethic, her contributions to employers and volunteer organizations were valued. She worked at Stouder Memorial Hospital in the 1960s and then BF Goodrich until retiring. Bobbie contributed many volunteer hours to FISH-Troy, Troy Civic Hotline, Joint Vocational School as a reading tutor with foreign exchange students, Troy Eagles #971 serving as an Auxiliary officer for 27 years, and Troy Senior Citizens Center during the Troy Strawberry Festivals.
Private family services will be held. Interment will be at Miami Memorial Park in Covington, Ohio.
