May 4, 1932 – February 1, 2016
Ronald David Sand, age 83 of Sidney, formerly of Kendallville, Indiana and Troy, passed away Monday February 1, 2016 at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born May 4, 1932 in Warsaw, Indiana to the late Ronald and Marguerite (Fowler) Sand.
He is survived by two daughters, Teresa Beltz of Troy and Laura Harrison of Indianapolis, Indiana, as well as son and daughter-in-law Dr. David and Debbie Sand of Milledgeville, Georgia. Five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Ruth Jean Elliott, who passed away May 17, 2011.
Dave served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After obtaining a Bachelor's Degree from Manchester College, he received a Master's Degree in Music Education from St. Francis College, and retired as a band director and music teacher in Indiana after 36 years of service. Dave loved music, playing instruments, and playing golf. He was a member of New Covenant United Methodist Church in The Villages, Florida.
Private services will be held at the Riverside Cemetery Chapel, Troy with Military Service honors by the Veteran's Memorial Honor Guard of Troy. Memorial contributions may be made in Dave's honor to the National Parkinson Foundation of Central and Southeast Ohio 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr, Columbus, OH 43231. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
